Please note: The city Heath Department tests the water near swimming areas daily to ensure water is safe to swim. At times, particularly after a rainstorm, bacteria levels will be elevated, usually where the water is shallow (near a beach). This is a normal part of the ocean ecosystem and usually clears up within a day. Advisories will be posted at the beach, but to check before you arrive please call the Health Department hotline: (203) 977-5889.
