As a reminder when coming to City of Stamford swimming locations, all patrons (if using a flotation device) must use a United States Coast Guard (USCG) approved flotation device. Additionally, if your camper is going to a beach location for swimming, water shoes are required while walking on the sand, in the water, and while swimming. If at any point you are unsure whether a flotation device is allowed, please ask a lifeguard. Also, proper bathing suit attire is required to swim in the Dorothy Heroy Pool. No street clothes.
Residents are reminded to purchase a beach parking permit through the Cashiering and Permitting Division at Government Center for use between May 1 and September 30. For more information about parking permits visit the City of Stamford website:
https://www.stamfordct.gov/around-town/parks/beach-parking-permits
.
Please note: The city Heath Department tests the water near swimming areas daily to ensure water is safe to swim. At times, particularly after a rainstorm, bacteria levels will be elevated, usually where the water is shallow (near a beach). This is a normal part of the ocean ecosystem and usually clears up within a day. Advisories will be posted at the beach, but to check before you arrive please call the Health Department hotline: (203) 977-5889.
