Policy on Make up Games and Re-scheduling games

1.  Inclement weather:  If a game is cancelled due to inclement weather or poor field conditions, the City of Stamford will put the missed game on the back end of the schedule.  In extreme situations, if there are several rainouts one any given night, we may play on alternate nights or it's possible we may not make up all games.  We do our best to ensure we complete the schedule and rarely have had to cancel games.

2.  Team cannot make assigned game:  At the managers meeting, teams are asked to notify the office of any dates for which there team will be unable to play due to a company function, a person on the team getting married...etc.  Any notifications made to the Recreation office will not be accepted once the season begins.  Why?
            a.  Often I get calls because one or two players cannot make a game, or the manager will not be there.
            b.  I do not force teams to switch game times.  When a team requests a time/date change, it affects 3 other teams.  For example, a team calls and asks that we switch their 6:15pm game time to 8:15pm.  First, it affects your opponent if you can't make a 6:15pm game and would prefer an 8:15pm game.  Normally teams hate 8:15pm games.  Also, the teams that are already scheduled at 8:15pm are now going to be asked to move to 6:15pm.  We have some teams that prefer later games and have a difficult time making early games so a switch is not beneficial to that team. 
            c.  The process is so time consuming:  since we don't force teams, we call each team and ask them if they can switch and to check with all 10-15 people on their team.  They will then get back to us one way or the other and we need to notify all 4 teams.  It often takes 2-3 days of phone tag to get it squared away.

In an effort to maintain consistency, we are not switching games beginning in 2010.  I mentioned it at the managers meeting yet I get at least one request per day to switch game times/dates.  We are sorry but we will not be accommodating any changes in the schedule.  If your team can't make an assigned game time, your team will simply just have to take a loss.  If you notify us the day prior, you will not be responsible for forfeit fees.
