Laurie has been Superintendent of Recreation since 1997. She is responsible for the budget, policy development, short and long range planning, supervision and overall Division management. In addition, she is also the liaison to all other City of Stamford divisions and outside agencies. Laurie is a graduate of Immaculate HS in Danbury, Southern Connecticut State University with a BS in Physical Ed and an MS in Recreation and Parks Administration. She also received a certificate in Sports and Event Marketing form New York University and is member of the Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association, serving as an Executive Board member and the National Recreation and Parks Association. Before coming to Stamford, Laurie worked as Director of Parks & Recreation for the Town of New Milford, Director of Parks & Recreation for the Town of New Fairfield, and Recreation Supervisor for the Town of Newtown. In her free time, Laurie enjoys spending time with family, friends, Reilly the wonder dog, reading, music/theater, movies, golfing, the beach, hiking, and exercising. She is a strong advocate of the many benefits quality Recreation and Parks services brings to the livability of a community. |
